Hands On Learning with our Farwell Middle School Kids:
7th grade students discovered that you can light an led light bulb with just a few items such as a fidget spinner, magnets and a coil of copper wire. They also looked at other hand held generators to see what they all had in common.
The kids had lots of fun exploring magnets - What are the rules about magnets? When do they attract?. When do they repel? How does distance affect magnets? How do we show these relationships in a model?
