Steve and his wife Amy, lived in Delton, Michigan, for 27 years, where they raised two children who are now both in college. Steve served as elementary principal for Delton Kellogg schools, where he worked for 11 years. There Steve was actively involved in many enrichment activities, including Odyssey of the Mind, Chess Club, and Little League.
Steve was born and raised in Hillsdale, Michigan and attended Western Michigan University for both graduate and undergraduate school. He has a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership, with an Elementary and Secondary Administration Certification (K-12) from the State of Michigan. Steve also has a Bachelor of Science degree specializing in Elementary Education, English, Math and Science.
Steve retired as a Lt. Colonel in the U.S. Army Michigan National Guard, where he served as Battalion Commander for an aviation unit. As Task Force Commander and a helicopter pilot, Steve participated in a peacekeeping mission in Kosovo. Steve had an incredible opportunity to watch Kosovo become a sovereign nation after his time there. While in Kosovo, his battalion helped rebuild a school that fostered principles of democracy and acceptance across cultural boundaries.
Steve has more than 27 years of educational experience. This includes time as Elementary and Intermediate Principal as well as Technology Director at Galesburg-Augusta Schools. While at G-A, he took a leading role as a coordinator and team leader in the bond project.
Being a part of small districts required that he also undertake several district level positions, such as Director of Title I and Title II, District School Improvement Chair, Homeless Liaison, and Director of Pre-school and Daycare.
On October 1, 2018, Mr. Scoville started serving as the Superintendent for the Farwell Area Schools. His family has now relocated to Crooked Lake in Lake, Michigan. They love the area and community, from the lake to the biking on the Pere Marquette Rails to Trail.
