Board of Education Position Vacancy

Due to the resignation of Board Trustee Deana Pitts, Farwell Schools has a vacancy on their Board of Education. This term will begin July 20, 2015 and end December 31, 2016. Interested persons must submit a letter of interest to the Farwell Board of Education at 399 E. Michigan in Farwell no later than noon on July 13, 2015. Please state why you are interested in becoming a member of the Farwell School Board of Education. Interviews will take place on July 20th during the regular Board of Education meeting beginning at 7 p.m. in the high school media center. Candidates must be at least 18 years of age and a resident of the Farwell School District. For questions, please call 588-9917.

 
 
Farwell Area Schools Earn Education Excellence Award

Two Years in a Row! 

Education Excellence Award  
The Michigan Association of School Boards recently recognized Farwell Area Schools for its Mandarin Dual Immersion and Spanish K-14 Program.
 
The scope of this program is one of the grandest in the state that seeks to provide students with a robust exposure to another language and culture.  The ultimate goal for students who take full advantage of the program is to graduate with college credits and a high level of proficiency in three languages:  Spanish, Chinese, and English.

Farwell High School Earns Education Excellence Award!
All College Credits  

The Michigan Association of School Boards recently recognized Farwell High School's Credit-Based College Tuition and Early College program as one of the top programs in Michigan schools.

155 high school students have completed nearly 1,782 credits saving them approximatley a half million dollars in college tuition and fees. 32 sophomores, 33 juniors, and 80 seniors (that's 74% of the senior class) have earned college credits while attending Farwell High School.

The following requirements will be in effect for the November 2014 reporting period:

Required for all children entering kindergarten, all 7th grade students, and all children changing school districts:Two doses of varicella (Var) vaccine or history of chickenpox disease. Required for all children 11-18 years of age who are changing school districts or who are enrolled in 7th grade: One dose of meningococcal (MCV4 or MPSV4) vaccine, one dose of tetanus/diphtheria/acellular pertussis (Tdap) vaccine (if 5 years have passed since last dose of tetanus/diphtheria vaccine - DTaP, Td or DT).
